A 360° record of the interior of the Araon, Korea’s first icebreaking research vessel, operated by the Korea Polar Research Institute, turned into a web VR tour. You can move zone by zone through the ship that carries out research in Antarctic and Arctic waters — without ever going aboard.

How to explore
Drag to look around, and scroll or pinch to zoom. Tap a thumbnail below to jump straight to that point, or step through them in order with the previous and next buttons. Tap a title to open a description of that space. It opens in PC and mobile browsers with nothing to install.
Where it’s used
Members of the public almost never get to board a research vessel, and even researchers find it hard to learn the ship’s layout before departure. A 360 VR record of the interior serves pre-voyage training, public outreach and facility archives as is. The more restricted a facility, the more valuable the record.
